HANFORD, Calif. — A homicide-suicide investigation is underway following an early morning incident on May 3, 2026, in the 1500 block of University Avenue, according to the Hanford Police Department.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 4:12 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from a residence where a male and female could reportedly be heard arguing in the background.
When the first officer arrived, an active verbal disturbance was heard inside the home. After identifying himself, the officer made contact as the situation escalated. Police say a man, identified as 33-year-old Vincent Diaz, then turned a firearm on himself and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Officers were able to safely remove the female from the residence before conducting a protective sweep. During that search, a second man, identified as 25-year-old Adrian Valdovinos, was found deceased in a bedroom with gunshot wounds.
Detectives later determined that Diaz was the ex-husband of the female resident. According to investigators, Diaz forced entry into the home and shot Valdovinos, who was identified as the woman’s current boyfriend, before taking his own life.
The case remains an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Hanford Police Department Detective Division.
