HANFORD, Calif.
First Christian Church in Hanford is inviting the community to a free Holistic Health Fair on Saturday, July 25, bringing together healthcare providers, community organizations, and local ministries to help residents access valuable health and wellness resources.
During an interview with Kings Network News at the Thursday Night Market in downtown Hanford, Pastor Patrizia Newton said the event was created after local faith leaders learned that many residents could be impacted by healthcare coverage reductions.
“We felt it was something we should get involved in and try to be part of the solution rather than just letting the problem continue to exist,” Newton said.
The event will be held at First Christian Church, 505 W. Cameron Street in Hanford, directly across from Jefferson Elementary School.
Residents who attend can enjoy:
- Free breakfast beginning at 8:00 a.m.
- Health Fair activities from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Free lunch
- Family-friendly activities for children
- Health screenings and educational resources
- Mental health information
- Medicare and insurance guidance
- Spiritual support and prayer
Organizers say numerous community partners are expected to participate, including representatives from Adventist Health, Kendra Care, Visalia Adult School’s Nursing Program, the California Blood Bank, local health professionals, and additional community organizations.
The California Blood Bank will also conduct a blood drive during the event. Individuals who donate blood will receive a gift certificate for ice cream as a thank-you for participating.
Organizers noted they are continuing to confirm additional vendors, including financial wellness representatives such as a local credit union.
Beyond physical health, church leaders emphasized that emotional and spiritual well-being are also important components of the event.
“We’ll have ministers available for anyone who simply wants someone to pray with them, talk with them, or be a listening ear,” Newton said.
The event is open to everyone, regardless of where they live.
“We’re not checking residency. We don’t care if you’re from Hanford or another city. We just want people to know that we’re here to help.”
To help make the event more accessible, organizers said Spanish-speaking translators from the Visalia Adult School nursing program will be available for attendees needing language assistance.
Community members interested in improving their health, learning about available services, or simply connecting with local organizations are encouraged to attend.
