HANFORD, Calif. — A Hanford domestic violence suspect was arrested on multiple felony charges after officers reportedly discovered a fully loaded firearm near a child during a traffic stop connected to a domestic violence investigation, according to the Hanford Police Department.

Police said officers initially responded Sunday, May seventeenth, to the twelve hundred block of Fernot Street to investigate a domestic violence incident involving twenty-three-year-old Isaiah Alcala. During the investigation, officers identified Alcala as the suspect.

While officers were still investigating the case, they reportedly observed Alcala driving a vehicle in the area and conducted a traffic stop. Police stated Alcala was taken into custody without incident.

Hanford Police Investigate Loaded Firearm Found Near Child

According to investigators, officers located an unserialized Glock-style firearm equipped with a fully loaded extended magazine inside the vehicle. Police said the weapon was found near a young child seated in the back seat.

Officers also reportedly located narcotics paraphernalia inside the vehicle during the investigation.

Authorities later determined Alcala is a convicted felon and legally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Investigators also discovered he was currently out on bail from a previous arrest in another county at the time of the incident.

Multiple Felony Charges Filed in Hanford Investigation

Alcala was booked into the Kings County Jail on multiple felony charges related to domestic violence, felon in possession of a firearm, child endangerment, and narcotics-related offenses, according to police.
