At just 21 years old, Amneek, a Hanford native, is balancing law school while helping modernize his family’s laundromat, introducing new technology, affordable prices, and improvements designed to better serve the community.
During an interview with Kings County News, Amneek shared how his family has continued investing in Express Laundromat since purchasing the business nearly five years ago. As part of a recent remodel, the family has focused on creating a cleaner, friendlier, and more welcoming place where families can do their laundry comfortably and affordably.
Located at 773 W. Grangeville Blvd. in Hanford, inside the Save Mart Shopping Center between Me-n-Ed’s Pizzeria and Subway, Express Laundromat has recently added several high-capacity washers capable of holding approximately 80 pounds of laundry for just $8.25, making them among the most affordable large-capacity machines in Hanford.
Customers can also take advantage of dryers starting at 25 cents for five minutes, helping keep laundry costs affordable.
To make the experience more enjoyable, the laundromat also offers:
- Free-to-play arcade games
- Television
- Vending machines
- Fans operating 24 hours a day
- Historic photographs showcasing Hanford’s history throughout the facility
“We wanted it to feel like home,” Amneek said. “Growing up in Hanford, those pictures bring back a lot of memories, and we wanted our customers to enjoy that while they’re here.”
Tap-to-Pay Convenience with DexterPay
Another recent upgrade is the addition of the DexterPay mobile payment system, allowing customers to pay directly from their smartphone instead of relying on quarters.
QR codes are posted throughout the laundromat. Customers simply scan the code, download the DexterPay app, enter the laundromat’s location number 4347, and apply the WELCOME promotional code to receive their first wash free.
The app also offers optional add-ons such as extended wash cycles, pre-wash, and extra rinse options, giving customers more flexibility to customize their laundry experience.
According to Amneek, the goal is to make doing laundry as convenient as possible while continuing to modernize the customer experience.
Five Easy Steps to Receive a Free Wash
Below is the guide to receive a free wash through the DexterPay app:
- Download DexterPay from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Create an account by entering the requested information.
- Enter location number 4347 for Express Laundromat.
- Choose any optional add-ons you would like for your wash.
- Apply the promotional code WELCOME and select your wash to receive it free.

Inspired by His Grandmother, Designed for Accessibility
One of the improvements means far more to the family than simply installing new equipment.
Amneek recalled how his grandmother temporarily relied on a wheelchair after breaking her hip. During that time, he saw firsthand how difficult everyday tasks could become and how much easier front-loading washing machines were for her to use.
That experience inspired the family to invest in ADA-accessible front-loading washers with detergent dispensers positioned on the front of each machine, making them easier to reach for seniors, wheelchair users, and others with mobility challenges.
“Those small moments, whether it’s helping my own family or helping our customers, are what inspire me to continue improving our family business,” Amneek said.
He said the family wanted to create a laundromat that is welcoming and accessible to everyone, making everyday tasks just a little easier for people throughout the community.
Balancing Business and Law School
While helping operate the family business, Amneek is entering his second year at UC Davis School of Law after graduating from Hanford schools and Fresno State.
His long-term goal is to return to the Central Valley as a practicing attorney while continuing to support the family’s business and give back to the community where he grew up.
When asked what advice he would give the next generation, Amneek encouraged young people to take advantage of every opportunity available.
“Don’t make excuses that opportunities aren’t there,” he said. “They’re out there if you’re willing to look for them.”
He encouraged students to pursue dual enrollment, internships, mentorships, scholarships, and other opportunities that can help shape their future.
When asked what he enjoys reading outside of law school, he laughed and admitted that after spending so much time reading legal textbooks, he’d much rather pick up a fantasy novel, naming the Game of Thrones series as one of his favorites.
Back-to-School Giveaway
The family is also giving back to the community with a Back-to-School Giveaway later this month.
Customers who create a DexterPay account at Express Laundromat will automatically be entered for a chance to win a backpack filled with school supplies before the new school year begins.
The promotion is designed to help local families while introducing customers to the laundromat’s new mobile payment system.
