HANFORD, CA, A late night traffic stop in Hanford resulted in the arrest of two men on weapons and drug related charges, according to local authorities.
On February 26 at approximately 11:58 p.m., a Hanford police officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the 9000 block of East Lacey Boulevard for a minor vehicle code violation. During the stop, officers made contact with the driver, 35 year old Jose Alfredo Aguirre, and the passenger, 41 year old Raul Ramon Gonzales.
Police said Aguirre granted consent to search the vehicle. During the search, officers located a loaded 9 mm Glock 19 handgun inside the vehicle. A records check determined the firearm was not registered to either Aguirre or Gonzales.
Further investigation revealed Gonzales was in possession of a usable quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Based on the investigation, both men were arrested and charged with weapons related offenses. Gonzales also faces additional charges for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both individuals were transported to the Kings County Jail, where they were booked.
Authorities have not released additional details, and the case remains under investigation.
