LEMOORE — Community partnerships and youth development took center stage during Monday’s Lemoore City Council meeting, where officials recognized two programs aimed at fostering civic involvement and providing positive outlets for local youth.

The council acknowledged the efforts of the Rotary Club of Lemoore, which collaborated with the Rotary Clubs of Hanford and Hanford Sunset to sponsor Youth and Government Day at Kings County. The event brought together more than 50 students for an in-depth look at local government, civic responsibilities, and career opportunities.

The Rotary Clubs also covered the cost of lunch for all participating students, an act praised by city officials as a meaningful contribution to civic education.

In addition, Lemoore Police Chief Mike Kendall reported that the department’s Police Activities League (PAL) wrestling program has officially launched, with 15 youth currently enrolled. Kendall said the program is already building momentum and provides young people with a structured, supportive environment focused on discipline, teamwork, and physical activity.

Both efforts were applauded by the council as examples of the city’s commitment to creating opportunity and connection for its next generation.

What kinds of youth programs do you think would make the biggest impact in Lemoore?
