Beginning July 1, Kings County Animal Services will no longer accept stray or injured animals from within the city limits of Lemoore. This change comes as part of an official transition by the Lemoore Police Department, which will now assume full responsibility for handling animal control services in the city.

The announcement was made public through Kings County Animal Services’ official Facebook page, where they shared a detailed flyer explaining the change. The agency thanked the community for its patience and emphasized that the new system is designed to ensure quicker and more localized responses to animal control calls.

Residents who encounter stray or injured animals within Lemoore should now contact:

As a secondary resource, residents may also contact:

  • Avenal Animal Shelter
    1299 Hydril Road
    Avenal, CA 93204
    Phone: (559) 386-1112

Kings County Animal Services clarified that they will continue to provide animal services for other parts of the county outside of Lemoore’s jurisdiction. However, due to the department’s shift in responsibility, Lemoore residents should no longer report animal-related issues to county services.

“Thank you for your patience as we navigate this transition,” the agency stated on social media. “Our animal control departments are dedicated to helping the residents in their patrol areas.”

This move is expected to streamline operations and reduce response times by assigning responsibilities to departments directly overseeing specific cities. With Lemoore Police now taking over local animal control duties, the transition aims to enhance coordination, improve public safety, and ensure that animals receive timely care and attention.

Kings County Animal Services encourages all residents to follow their official Facebook page at facebook.com/kingscountyanimalservices for additional updates, public notices, and service changes.
