HANFORD, CA – An 18 year old Hanford resident was arrested after investigators discovered drugs packaged for sale and an unserialized handgun while serving a search warrant at a local residence, according to the Hanford Police Department.
Investigators with the Hanford Police Department Street Crimes Unit (SCU) began looking into suspected drug sales and illegal weapons possession at a home in the 200 block of East 11th Street earlier in February.
Following the investigation, officers executed a search warrant at the residence on February 27.
During the search, investigators located concentrated cannabis packaged for sale and THC vape pens inside the home. Officers also found an unserialized handgun and an extended handgun magazine, police said.
A resident of the home, 18 year old Eugene Soto, was taken into custody.
Soto was transported to the Kings County Jail, where he was booked on multiple charges, including:
Possession of a firearm and not the registered owner (PC 25850(c)(6))
Possession of a firearm without identifying markings (PC 23920(a))
Possession of a large capacity magazine (PC 32310(c))
Concealing evidence (PC 135)
Possession of marijuana for sale (HS 11359(b))
The investigation was conducted by the Hanford Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit, which focuses on addressing illegal firearms and narcotics activity within the community.
