HANFORD — The Hanford Police Department is actively searching for a suspect in connection with a daytime shooting that left one man injured last week.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East Second Street at 11:42 a.m. on March 21 following reports of a shooting. Responding units located a 42-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Investigators identified Juan Sturr, 29, of Lakeport, California, as the alleged shooter. Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from a disturbance between Sturr and the victim. Sturr reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived.

Hanford Police detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Sturr on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about the case or Sturr’s whereabouts is urged to contact Hanford Police Street Crimes Investigator C. Wyand. Authorities caution the public not to approach Sturr if seen. Instead, they should immediately contact local law enforcement.
