HANFORD, CA – A Hanford man was arrested after police say he fired multiple rounds from a shotgun outside his home, prompting a police investigation and the issuance of several court orders.
According to the Hanford Police Department, officers responded on February 25 at approximately 8:07 a.m. to the 2400 block of Ashwood Court after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots in the area.
When officers arrived, they began investigating the incident and determined that 59 year old Daniel Estrada had allegedly fired multiple rounds from a shotgun outside of his residence. Police said the reason for the gunfire was unknown.
Detectives later conducted a follow up investigation and obtained a gun violence restraining order, an arrest warrant, and a search warrant for Estrada’s residence.
On March 4, detectives with the Hanford Police Department, along with investigators from the Street Crimes Unit, served the search warrant at the home. After a brief period, Estrada exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident, according to police.
During the search of the residence, officers recovered a shotgun, live shotgun shells, and spent shotgun shells.
Estrada was transported to the Kings County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of negligent discharge of a firearm, a violation of California Penal Code section 246.3.
