After the results were finalized, a city official reached out to me and asked if I could contact Tyree. Not long after, he called me a third time, again saying, “They still have not called.” At that point, I told him I would give him the city’s number just in case he wanted to reach out himself. Less than 30 minutes later, the call he had been waiting for finally came. The City of Hanford officially contacted him to confirm his selection as Grand Marshal, and once again his joy was overwhelming. He accepted with excitement and expressed his gratitude to both the city and the residents of Hanford.
What makes this honor even more meaningful is who Tyree Reed is to our community. He is warmly known as the “God Bless You Guy,” always ready with a kind word or a heartfelt prayer for anyone who needs it. But to the people of Hanford, he is simply Tyree. His kindness extends far beyond one city. From Hanford to Lemoore and throughout other nearby communities, Tyree takes the time to bless people whenever he can. If you ask him for prayer, he will gladly stop and pray with you. He loves sharing the word of God, lifting others up, and reminding people of the power of faith. That is what makes him such a unique and beloved figure, and why his role as Grand Marshal carries so much meaning. Personally, every time I see Tyree I ask him to pray for me, and every time I walk away with a smile.
The Hanford Christmas Parade is one of the city’s most beloved holiday traditions. Families line the streets to enjoy colorful floats, sparkling lights, and the sound of marching bands from local high schools filling the night with festive music. Among the most anticipated highlights is the performance from D J’s Collectible Shoppe, which brings the magic of Star Wars to downtown Hanford year after year. The moment the famous theme begins to play, the crowd erupts in cheers, showing how these traditions have become part of the parade’s heart and soul.
The parade always ends with a grand finale, when Santa Claus rides down the street on the Hanford firetruck, waving to the cheering crowd. There, the holiday spirit comes alive with hot chocolate, gingerbread men, and countless festive treats that make the night warm and memorable. The skating rink, the music, and the decorations turn downtown Hanford into a holiday postcard, giving families a chance to linger and celebrate together.
